The Internet is such a wonderful place; it gave us a multitude of interesting services, simplified our lives, and made the world a better place. In general, there aren’t two people that can dispute the power of the Internet but there is one thing that one visit to the Youtube’s comment section that is made blatantly clear; the Internet just helped expose the collective stupidity of humanity!

Exhibit A

Exhibit A

The Internet has provided us with ample number of examples of how the human race might actually need divine guidance because if it was a game of “survival of the fittest”, we would definitely not qualify to even participate!

Falling in Love…. Again!

Oh, online romantic relationships, how devious are thee! Adnan and Jamila were a Jordanian couple who started a sizzling hot Internet relationship in what probably classifies as a seedy corner of the Internet. Oh how they were in love, and how they thought they have found the perfect partner to spend the rest of their lives with. They went ahead of themselves and started dreaming of getting married and made plans for their future until the faithful day when they met and Jamila was faced with the screams “You are divorced, divorced, divorced” – the traditional way of ending a marriage.

Apparently he was neither Adnan nor was she Jamila. It turned out their real names were Bakr and Sanaa Melhom, an estranged married couple who were both cheating on each other but sadly couldn’t stray too far from the nest.

Twitter is Stupid

Twitter is Stupid

No Common Sense Is an Understatement!

Remember how you learned to stay away from your spouse or family when they are having a bad day? Do you know how it’s common decency to not offend them on that day in particular? Now imagine how it would feel if a whole country is feeling that way? Now imagine the reaction that poking their eyes out would unleash…

Zhang Ya - YouTube Idiot!

Zhang Ya – YouTube Idiot!

Well Zhang Ya managed to pull such a stunt, and not in any country, she managed to pull it off in CHINA! It was during the aftermath of the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake in which this fine young lady posted a video post that amounts to:

Those dirty people don’t deserve to be on TV, I hope they have died sooner and I’m glad that some of them are gone now, they are all jinxes anyways … this whole mourning gig is making me bored! bring back my TV shows already so I can be entertained!

Now you can imagine the backlash that this caused among the Chinese citizens… actually you cannot! Within weeks the Internet was filled with her personal information and details, they were so meticulous they even found her blood type! The whole incident resulted in her arrest by the Chinese police, for “her protection”, and we can only hope to imagine what that means.

Dethroning the Kingdom of Stupidity…

Before Twitter, the collective stupidity of the world was contained on in a self-sustaining ecosystem; Youtube. A wonderful place where people were exhibiting their proficiency in stupidity. All that has changed with Twitter breaking critical mass, now that you can read the inner thoughts and “brainchildren” of people around the world you immediately realize just how stupid, stupid can be.

And nothing sums up that thought more than this video

Does the Internet make people stupid, or does the Internet make them more visible? Or is it a combination of the two? What do you think?
