Twitter Makes Hollywood Interactive; And What About Us

hollywood_twitterI was waiting for the moment when the TV production folks start recognizing the importance of better ecosystem to interact with their audience while doing their job- which they are great about. The buzz of Twitter TV Show around says – a lot of interesting developments are happening; but is there official Twittter TV Show?

Hollywood prominent TV stations like E!, MTV, CNN, G4 and various independent production companies are currently leveraging Twitter for fun new projects, and many others are planning with creative ideas to join the list. Therefore, it’s not a Twitter TV Show like what the buzz is coming around, but rather various shows that rely heavily on twitter technology and ability to innovate and build around.

Twitter post on their official blog said: “Twitter is very open. As a result, thousands of different applications, web sites, and mobile interfaces have been created by developers. These different approaches add variety and relevance to Twitter and in general make the ecosystem more interesting. However, Twitter’s openness is not limited to the web or even to mobile phones.”

Where do Middle East TV Production Houses & Shows stand?

CNN was an early innovator with Twitter, but none of the TV shows in the Middle East were real follower to this level of ecosystem. Al Jazeera English employed half-way by updating news to twitter, but it’s not using the other way around; instead, they are using for chatting at Riz Khan TV Show, which is not common to everyone.

I believe twitter can change ecosystem in Middle East television which saves audience money rather than high-cost SMS or phone calls.

With this news, I hope broadcast media would refer to online media for communications and my personal expectations once again go for Aljazeera English, MBC, and Zaven TV Show on Future TV – Lebanon who will be early adopters to this technology and method of communications.

Thanks for openness of twitter technology that transformed television ecosystem.
