Facebook in Arabic grows 17% in August 2010

According to an article released by Inside Facebook Gold, Facebook in Arabic has set a new milestone getting over 17% growth in the month of August. A close second is Portuguese with just over 11%.

However the data released does not mention any country specific growth due to the wide geographical location that Arab speaking people reside in. (over 280 million people in over 25 countries and territories.) However this should be a good sign for marketers and developers in the region who can benefit from targeting the quickly growing rate of people logging on to Facebook in the Arabic language. Below is the chart of the growth for the top 10 Languages on Facebook:
Even though Arabic has grown well in August, it is still has the lowest penetration level of all the top 10 languages as shown below:
