Gatcha! to enter the Middle East?

So we are back! Here at Interactiveme, after a long break to bring you the news about the MENA region.

So we start with the announcement of Lorenz Bogaert who is the co-founder and CEO of Netlog, one of Europe’s leading social networks with 68m users. Although they are a social network they are taking games very seriously and plan to grow their reach by expanding into new markets such as the US and the Middle East. Their gaming distribution platform Gatcha! which launched just under a year ago, is planning to open offices in Dubai.

Gatcha! creates its own in-house games but it also provides support to game developers by adding the social touch to their games and helps in distributing them along social networks, in return Gatcha! gets a cut of the developer’s advertising deals. So its a win win for both parties involved.

Gatcha! and Netlog aim to increase the number of their users by entering this region, since they are seeing monthly unique visitors from the Middle East growing 5 to 10% per month. Which is significantly higher than the 1-2% that is seen in Europe.

Having worked with top digital agencies and companies in the MENA region for the past number of years I'm now looking now to venture on my own with small side projects in online, SaaS products. Things I like include: gaming, sports, technology, social media, start ups, funny things and reading about new bright ideas.
