Syria uprising on Facebook

The Middle East is in turmoil seeing what happened in Tunisia and what is going on in Egypt, seems like some fractions of the Syrian people want to bring the uprising to Damascus. A Facebook page called the Syrian Revolution 2011 with over 11 thousand “Likes” is requesting people to demonstrate in front of the Syrian embassy’s around the world namely: USA, Canada, Sweden, England and Denmark.

Social media is providing people with a medium to talk freely and send across their thoughts but the important note to keep in mind is that social media is NOT responsible for the uprisings. Why and what the people are protesting about is a different issue, Facebook and Twitter just gave the people a platform to voice their frustration and demands, which is something that they never had so freely before.
