Reem’s Digital Experiment: Creating an awesome Youtube Channel

Note: This is the first entry in a series that I have decided to call “Reem’s Digital Experiment”. I am going to attempt to create a “successful Youtube Channel by a blogger in the Middle East”. Many of my clients have asked how to do this effectively and while I often reference “success stories”, they aren’t my own.
So I’m going to consolidate all my “YOUTUBE SUCCESS” research and apply it. To state the obvious: this could be amazing or it could completely fail. However, I believe that this learning experience could help us all contribute to developing digital content that highlights the amazing talent that I see every day.

Something has been bothering me.

I spend hours watching videos online, surfing from one link to another. I do have my own Youtube channels, but for some reason, I haven’t been consistent. Yesterday, it dawned on me that there’s a gaping hole in my Youtube surf-life. There aren’t any prominent Youtube channels from the Middle East that have found their way into my subscriber list.

Why is this so? I’m surrounded by award-winning directors, photographers, producers, creatives…..who are unbelievably talented.  It’s definitely not for a lack of opinions…or ideas… or an audience. The success of SHANKABOOT has proven that the region is hungry for amazing digital/web content. The truth is, I could ramble on forever about the reasons for this particular digital content rift, but I’ll spare you the melodrama.Instead, I will undertake a challenge.

The Challenge: Create a successful Youtube Channel by a blogger in the Middle East.

Right. Where to start?

Good Ol’ Google, of course.  I realize that I’m going to need a game plan. There seems to be a veritable smorgasbord of advice, tips, techniques and strategies to  obtain the now-coveted “Youtube Star” status. Let me sift through the information overload. I’ll post my findings on Interactiveme. com on Wednesdays.

Wish me luck.
